BDMAC Past!

Model flying has taken place on the Pleasington site for over 50 years!

Earliest information goes back to 1938 when free-flight models were flown.

Over the years we have moved to different fields but always retained a pressence on site. The club underwent various name changes and restructuring - eventually to become Blackburn & District model Aircraft Club.

Founder members included the late Norman McFarland and John Bridge. John is still an active aviation enthusiast and a life member of the club, regularly supporting our midsummer rally by providing an excellent P.A commentary.

Many competitions have been organised, the World War 1 event in particular was very well supported.

The club has provided flying demonstrations for various organisations - usually in aid of charity. The "Green Lane" event was always well attended by modellers and microlight aircraft too.

Blackburn modellers in 1958 - notice the shirts and ties! I can recognise John Bridge, Les Partington, Reg Coar - email me if you know the other names!

Pleasington past - where are they now?

please email us if you know.
